The Tanzanian Impact Fund (TIF)

Founded in 2024 by the Lykes Family, the Tanzanian Impact Fund supports Thrive Global Project’s on-the-ground work in Tanzania, Africa.

Funds will go directly to support the feeding of students in Tanzania schools, not only to empower the hands who prepare school meals each day but also to build out the region’s educational infrastructure. Your support will be the driving force behind bringing true change to a community whose brightest achievements are yet to be realized.

Introducing the TGP Tanzanian Impact Fund

Giving Kids The Fuel to Thrive

The Tanzanian Impact Fund will directly support Thrive Global Project’s efforts in Tanzania, Africa.

Meet the Catalyst, Johnson Lykes

"I am thrilled to announce the launch of the Tanzanian Impact Fund for Thrive Global Project (TGP), and invite you to share in the joy that supporting TGP has given to me and my loved ones.

Over the course of the last five years, TGP has been a large part of my life, and being able to witness this growing region of the world continue to develop has been a dream come true." - Johnson Lykes

Donate to the Fund

The idea for this fund began roughly two years ago during a conversation between Johnson Lykes and Grace Moyd, Executive Director of TGP. With TGP having recently merged with The Lunch Project, the thought was to support the newly acquired program and to maintain a tight focus. In past volunteer experiences Fund Founder, Johnson, had learned and witnessed firsthand the importance that a school-provided meal can have on student attendance. This coupled with enhanced student engagement and performance in the classroom, it became clear that supporting Thrive’s mission in Tanzania was a goal we collectively wanted to pursue.

Johnson has traveled to Tanzania twice with Thrive Global Project, the 2018 Kilimanjaro Hike, and 2022 Vision Trip with his mother. On these trips, Johnson got to know many of the individuals who work tirelessly to build the educational system, and the students who truly are the focus of TGP’s mission, and wanted to find a way to make this important work more sustainable.

Goals, objectives and parameters of the Tanzanian Impact Fund:

Each donation made to the fund will go directly to the support of feeding students in Tanzanian schools, empowering the hands who prepare school meals each day, as well as building out the region’s educational infrastructure. Your support will be the driving force behind bringing true change to a community whose brightest achievements are yet to be realized. The promise is that we will update you on the uses of the fund’s donations and show you the tangible change that your support is generating.

The fund will be held by Thrive Global Project, a non-governmental organization (NGO), making all donations towards this fund tax-deductible. The fund will be directed by a steering committee including members of the Lykes Family with oversight and support from Thrive Global Project staff and the Board of Directors. The hope is that we will utilize the free markets in a risk-conscious manner to maximize the size and impact of the fund.

Your donations will provide a direct boost to TGP’s Tanzanian operations sustainability, future development and educational infrastructure. By donating, you will help move the needle for TGP’s mission and vision in Tanzania to support 7,000 students with a hot meal daily.

Through this fund, you will support TGP to provide:
