Heartfelt Gratitude to Providence Day for Empowering TGP’s The Lunch Project!
We extend a heartfelt thanks to Providence Day for their incredible support in helping Thrive Global Project raise an astounding $11,000 for our program: The Lunch Project.
The collective efforts of Providence Day’s fourth-graders have truly made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of children in Tanzania, Africa.
The compassion and creativity displayed by these young philanthropists is truly inspiring. From bake sales to selling old toys, walking dogs, and even giving up allowances earned through household chores, the fourth-graders demonstrated a remarkable commitment to making a difference.
The $11,000 raised by 115 fourth-graders over two months surpassed the initial goal of $1,000 per class, marking a tremendous achievement. Providence Day hosted an exciting reveal where the students cheered themselves on for their incredible accomplishments. The excitement of the students was contagious as they shared how proud they were of what they achieved.
“It’s a huge accomplishment,” says Leigh Cook, a PDS fourth-grade teacher. “Our fourth-graders have gone above and beyond this year.” Providence Day 4th graders have been raising money for TLP for 10 years, but so far this is the most amount ever raised in their fundraiser!
For Kathryn, TGP’s Director of Development and Marketing, this is a full-circle moment as she graduated from Providence Day School, having attended the school from kindergarten to 12th grade, she was so excited to be part of the BIG reveal.
With this $11,000 donation, TGP will be able to purchase the ingredients and supplies to provide lunch to an entire school for the school year! That’s 1,100 students who will have the fuel to THRIVE!
At Providence Day, students learn social responsibility to ensure they cultivate a sense of connection to the community and world. In the 4th grade, teachers like Leigh Cook use Thrive Global Project’s Thriving Global Citizens empathy development programming in their classroom.
During the event, the students shared the different ways they fundraiser.
Cristo and Georgie shared their philanthropic chops by fostering animals and organizing a dial-for-dollars campaign. Their commitment to social responsibility aligns seamlessly with the values instilled at Providence Day, where fostering empathy, gratitude, and community connection is woven into the curriculum. Leah used her passion to set up a stand at Winter Market, offering handmade jewelry, clay bowls, and knitted pigs. Her enthusiasm reflects the joy of combining personal interests with philanthropic endeavors, stating, “It makes me feel awesome that I got to do what I love while helping other people.”
Providence Day School, your unwavering support has not only exceeded expectations but has also left an indelible mark on the lives of those in need. Together, we celebrate the power of compassion, generosity, and community spirit.
Thank you from our community to yours!
